So its 19:40 on 21st December – a perfect time to write a new blog entry!
Last weekend I had the chance to get out and about with my new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens – the ‘nifty fifty’. I decided to take a trip to one of the woods close to where I live, Shirlen’s Copse to be exact.
A typical Winter day, it was cold, slightly frosty still and fortunately (and unusually) rather sunny. Conditions were pretty much perfect – so it was time to give this lens a go and see exactly what it was capable of.
I couldn’t quite believe just how sharp the images were, without any post-processing the photographs were pin sharp – something I’m not all that used to. The colours are very vibrant and being able to shoot wide open at an aperture of f/1.8 is one of the best things about this lens. I love to experiment with differential focus and low apertures, so it would seem that this lens was made for my camera!
Below are a selection of photographs taken with the lens last Sunday –
